CUMBERLAND ENERGY CENTER
The Cumberland Energy Center
The Cumberland Energy Center is a proposed natural gas facility that will operate around the clock to reliably power 750,000 homes and businesses in Central Virginia.
This new generation will help bring relief to the pressure of rising electric bills on Virginia families and make our electricity more affordable.
The Cumberland Energy Center uses innovations such as combined cycle units to scale generation based on real-time demand. This project will complement Virginia’s diverse energy mix so the lights always turn on when you flip the switch, even when wind and solar are not available.
The Cumberland Energy Center uses proven, “light-footprint” technologies for the benefit of Cumberland County’s residents and pristine environment.
